A Message For Challenging Times
I have been asked by John for a message of comfort in these challenging times, I thought I would share this with you all as you may find it helpful. Love Nick
I learned a valuable lesson about fear from my children when they were young. If they believed there was something hiding under their beds and they were frightened to go to sleep, no matter how much I explained there was nothing under the bed , got the torch out to show them, rationalised that they were imagining it, that it wasn’t real and they had nothing to worry about, it just did not work with them. They believed in it and that was that!
It was then that I learned that the only thing that helped them and gave them peace was when I said, ‘It’s okay, I will stay with you’. I will be with you. They then went peacefully to sleep. I think that really it is the aloneness that they most feared. It is the experience of being separated from the source of their love and protection.
Having learnt this simple lesson, I was now able to understand why Jesus said ’I am with you always’. He understood that being like children, frightened of the darkness in the valley of the shadow of death, the answer was to discover that they were not alone.
In the lessons of A Course In Miracles (lesson 156) it explains that you may lose sight of your Companion and that to restore the awareness of the fact that you are not alone, you need to ask the question:
‘Who walks with me?’
It says this question should be asked a thousand times a day, till certainty has ended doubting and established peace.
Today let doubting cease ‘God speaks for you in answering your question with these words:
I walk with God in perfect holiness.
I light the world.
I light my mind and all minds which God created one with me.’
In the Bible it mentions the children of God many times, it never mentions adults of God. In times of fear children are frightened and need their elder brother to remind them of their Father’s Presence and thus allow them to return to resting in inner peace.
